Singapore Airlines Charity Run 2014

I collected the Race Pack for the Singapore Airlines Charity Run 2014 from Kallang Leisure Park and I like that it comes in a shoe bag which is what I needed. I can't wait to dress up for this run and hopefully, I get to go home with the lucky draw first prize - a pair of SQ Business Class tickets to one of the destinations they fly to. 14 more days to go!

Dean Potter's Moonwalk

This must be one of the coolest thing I have ever watched. Bryan Smith is in town and I got to attend his sharing session and this was one of his work. I wonder... maybe... one day... I can do this too. Maybe...

Project Blue WaVe is launched on 4 October 2014

Project Blue WaVe is an initiative by the PA Water Venture. The main aim to raise awareness on environmental issues and encourage Singaporeans to take care of our environment.

200 participants cleaned up the Pasir Ris Park while 100 participants got on to kayaks and cleaned up Sungei Api Api.

The message is clear: Singapore is our home and we should take care of it ourselves by not littering and destroying the nature habitats of our wildlife.

There is so much we can do and hopefully, more people will join us to do a part for the environment.

*It rained so heavily that we had to rush back to shore but that didn't dampen our spirits.

Outing with the Wheelchair Bound Seniors #3

It took some time and effort to organise an outing like this. But it is always worth it especially at the end of the outing, I have seniors smiling and telling me that they had a lot of fun. Hope to see more volunteers coming forward to #GoMakeADifference with us! I am already looking forward to the next outing!

[Rinjani 2014] Tip 4: Bring food and hot beverage up to the summit!

The wind is strong and cold. It is a must to wear a good wind breaker, gloves and everything that you need to keep yourself warm.

It is good to bring some food and hot beverage up to the summit if possible. The summit push is not easy and it will definitely help to have some additional motivation to keep on going.

[Rinjani 2014] Tip 3: Get a pair of good trekking poles and good trekking boots!

The trekking poles and the trekking boots will come in handy especially when doing the summit push. The path up is full of ashes and gravels. Every step I took, my foot sank into the ashes and gravels. It is definitely a good time to demonstrate what resilience is all about.

[Rinjani 2014] Tip 2: Start the ascent from the Sembalun.

To get to the top, we had to stay near the top.
There are two ways to start the trek - either from Senaru or Sembalun. I would recommend to do the trek from Sembalun as the ascent is gradual and the scenery is nice. Starting the trek from Senaru, on the other hand, can be quite boring as there is a long walk in the forest which can be pretty boring.

Within 6 hours, we reached the Sembalun Crater Rim and the tents were set up already by the time we reached. So all we needed to do was to rest and chill.

We woke up at 2 am the next morning to trek up the summit. The summit push is definitely challenging even for a seasoned trekker.

[Rinjani 2014] Tip 1: Engage John's Adventure

I just got back from Lombok and had a great time trekking up Mt Rinjani and chilling at the Gili Islands!

If you are planning to do the trek, you might want to consider doing it other than January to March as the Mt Rinjani National Park is closed due to the rainy season.

Do consider engaging the service of John's Adventure as I think they are really good and professional.

Visit their website at: http://www.rinjanimaster.com/

Read about the reviews on Tripadvisor: http://www.tripadvisor.com.sg/ShowUserReviews-g297733-d386938-r148250930-Mount_Rinjani-Lombok_West_Nusa_Tenggara.html

So my group of 4 paid for the 3 Day 2 Night, Deluxe Plus Package for USD$235 + tips each. A guide and 4 porters accompanied us throughout the whole trekking. And we were taken care of very well.

New Bus Service in Tampines!

Some residents have been sending feedback to the authorities regarding the bus service in the area. And it is a pleasant surprise to hear the announcement of a new bus service - Tampines Express 1 (TE1).

Launched on 2nd May 2014, it will cover mainly Tampines Central, Tampines Changkat and Tampines East. Residents staying at Tampines St 33 will be able to take TE1 straight to the round market at Tampines St 11.

TE 1 operates during the morning and evening peak hours on weekdays and the morning peak hours on weekends. The bus fare costs $1 per trip and the only form of payment is by ezlink.

From today till end of May, passengers who alighted at the bus stop near Tampines Changkat CC will receive a $1 voucher which can be used at the round market!

The bus looks like any other buses. Look out for the TE1 signage.
