Hmmm... this is going to be a review of what i have done this holiday... Mr Spore, Minor in Entreprenuership, Vietnam trip and Bangkok trip...
It has been a great holiday, so unlike any other holiday that i ever had. Had experienced hell weeks - during the minor, happy and unhappy memories from mr spore and of course new experience from the 2 trips... But because of my divertion to these stuffs, i have neglected ODAC and OMC. Sad to say, i have failed in my duties, in a way or another... The minor wasn't really that easy, but it wasn't that hard as well, but, it really took up alot of my time and it caused me to be physically and mentally exhausted. Going thru the course has made realised that there are things which i should have done. And that left me with not much time to do other stuffs. Mr Spore was a total new experience, well, i got to know the entertainment industry better, it is rather dark... really, in order to survive in the entertainment industry, there's a lot of stuffs to look out for. Relationship with one another and the gossips and the backstabbing here and there... it is everywhere... just like in normal industries... Vietnam and Bangkok trips opened my eyes to the lifestyle of people outside Spore, I guess because i am so used to living here, i really appreciate what i have here, the peace, the stability, the clean streets...
I would give myself 8/10 for my odac biz mag performance for the 1st half and 8/10 for OMC. That is because, i guess i did my roles well, and i really put in efforts into whatever i was doing. But, i came to realise that, me efforts are not being appreciated. The returns wasn't what i thought it will be... so, as other commitments set in, i began to drift away from Odac and Omc. Sad to say, my grades for the 2nd half of the yr is 3/10 for both roles... By not going to Foot, i have once again upset some people... and i think i have been condemn by some people... this is sad... so sad... but i seriously don't know what i should do now... because, for once, i have come to realise i have been trying to enagage in all sorts of things and my life is so choked up by them...
How ? Now what ?
I think i will be toning down all other stuffs, and focusing more on my studies... Guess that is the more sensible thing to do now...

23rd July... hmmm...
Today is 23rd July and my team, R.I.S.K got 23rd position for the SMRT Challenge... interesting isn't is it? By the way, there's a meaning behind R.I.S.K = Roy, Iain, Steven, Kenneth.

SMRT Challenge is a free race which aims to promote SMRT services and most importantly, to promote courtesy and safety on trains, buses and taxi. There were 8 checkpoints where we had to clear, and there were 2 challenges at each checkpoint. The checkpoints were spreaded out quite evenly, i would say, but i think it could have been better if the stations in the east were included as well. And for the challenges, they were kind of easy. Too easy in fact. The first team took 3hours 6min to complete, we took 4hrs 10min. So, they were really fast. And they won the SGD2000. That is a lot of $$ ... Wooooo... I am jealous... Haha... Well, i am joining next yr again. But this time round i will join the student catergory. The first team for the student catergory is about 4hrs plus... so will be easier to compete... haha...

Today also happens to be the Children Cancer Foundation day or something... and from the 6.30pm news, i saw the "brave" people having their hair shaved off. There was an increase in the number of ladies who chose to let their head be shaved and i salute their bravery. Really!! It is not easy to make the decision to shave your head... FYI, those poor kids who, unfortunately, got cancer will start losing their hair after the radiation treatment. So, in order to show support for these kids, to show that it is not ugly to have no hair, these volunteers got their head shaved... So, when will be my turn ? Seriously... i don't know...

Bangkok Review
I must say, the Thais really love their king. This can be observed from the way they wear the T-shirt. A bright yellow type with the phrase, "We love our King." And it is not hard to not miss out the gigantic posters of their Kings everywhere. Yes, everywhere, just like TVmobile.
The Thais in Bangkok are definitely same same but different as compared to those in Phuket. Those in Phuket are more friendly, and i must say, Patong Beach is definitely more happening than Patpong. Bangkok is too concrete and in one way or another, it is like Singapore. But nevertheless, it was a great trip with Adolphus and Iain.
[Day 1 - 13/07]
Reached Changi Airport at 7am and checked in to the departure halls.
Had light breakfast and walked around inside the duty free areas.
Boarded the plane with the ease as we were allocated seats number, i prefer Jetstar to Tigerairway coz with the seat numbers, people don't rush to get in. And, Jetstar will be sticking to Terminal 1 for long... and that's good... Budget Terminal is rather boring and inaccessible.
The plane was smooth and we reached Bangkok International Airport in 2hrs time.
The passport control was horrible there, as we took 50 minutes to clear it. And by the time we got to the luggage conveyor, our bags were thrown on the floor.
We grabbed the free maps at the airport and got ourselves a cab. Costs us 300B and we reached our hotel in 30minutes time.
Over at Eastin Bangkok, our hotel, our room wasn't ready so we left our luggages at the hotel and went to walk around and have some food.
Streets in Bangkok are not hard to navigate but i still don't understand the system, "how come some time a single direction lane can become a 2 way lane ?"
We came to Pratunam Centre, and we found a food court there. Meals are rather cheap, one plate of chicken rice costs 30B which is roughly SGD$1.25. And for the food courts in Bangkok, we must buy the coupon card, which stores the value of the money that we had paid for.
Reached back hotel and woo hoo... Relax for a while... then we were all ready for Suan Lam Night market.
Walked to the Skytrain station, which is about 15minutes walk from the hotel. Wanted to get the tourist unlimted pass(280B) which can be used for 3 days. But trust me, DON'T BUY!! Coz, not worth it, won't use that much of credits anyway. We somehow managed to get the local students' pass which costs 160B for 10 trips. In the end, we only used up 5 trips... coz taxi is really better. Cheap and fast.
Suan Lam market is a place with a lot of local handicrafts, clothings, food and stuffs... quite a big market place. There is a detailed map of it, so can navigate with that. Then had dinner at Safari Steak there, the pineaple rice and tom yam soup is shiok ~~~
Went for Thai massage... something embarassing happened during the massage... well.. hmm...
Continued to walk around till late...
[Day 2 - 14/07]
Breakfast at Eastin was okay. Not as horrible as mentioned by donno-who.
Went to the Erawan Shrine to pray before we officially start the shopping trip...
Then, we headed for MBK. Can find bargains and cheap buys here. Had toast with peanut butter and chocolate and 1 steam bread special. It is not like the Yakun we had here, a bit different, but i still prefer Yakun. Walk and shop and walk...
Then headed for Siam Discovery Centre... then Siam Paragon... very high class places... Just like Taka...
Went back Hotel to put our stuffs and managed to swim for a while...
After which, it was Patpong time !!
Quite a happening place with a lot of bars and clubs. You will see men trying to interest you into their clubs to see thai-show... Well, he promised that it will only cost 100B per person but in the end it turns out to be 500B... a TT -- tourist trap... we were shocked, many others were shocked too... ridiculous... nevertheless, i enjoyed the show... i never knew that "V" can do soooo many things... amazing ...
Walked around again... and oops... almost stepped into a gay street. Heng ah...
[Day 3 - 15/07]
After breakfast, headed for Chatuchak.
It is really a huge place with many many many stores... and it sure was hot... hot... hot... Many things to see and buy. And towards the afternoon, makeshift stores appearred from nowhere and the place got real crowded.
Then we went to explore the World Trade centre. Had Swensons icecream.. mine costs 65B !! Cheap !! About SGD$2.75
Then we went over to BigC to try out the MK restuarant which is everywhere. The food was okay but the service was very good...
Went back to wash up and we were prepared to head for the Bed Supperclub. Quite a nice place to chill. There are areas with beds where you can lie down and drink and chat and listen to the music... but this is not for me... i prefer listening to live bands... am i getting "mature" ??
[Day 4 - 16/07]
Last day.
After breakfast, packed up everything and left our stuffs over at the hotel lobby.
Went over to the Platinum Mall which boasts about the wholesale pricing that they have... and true enough... the things were rather cheap... quite a good to walk...
After the last minute shopping, it was then time to leave...
Went back to hotel and get our stuffs and we were ready to get back to Spore...

Photos from Vietnam...

These are some of the 原住民 that we met in Sapa, they are very persuasive... they kept trying to sell us the stuffs that they made... but they hard sell in a nice manner so it is still rather okay

Looook at the padi field and the mountains and the rivers... is so unlike what we normally see in Malayisa... Vietnam is more beautiful than Malaysia...

This is something we don't get to see everyday... Moon rise from behind a mountain... nice right ?

We stayed at one of the 原住民's house... simple yet comfortable...

"Sinh-to" one of the dessert of the vietnamese... Very Nice !!

Some group pictures...

Some more group pictures...

Even more group pictures...

Finally, the conquerers of Fan Sipan... Jenny, Grace, Me, JJ, Kawei, Jacob, Nicholas.

EN105... Last module to go...
Ahhhh... EN105, the last module for the minor in entrepreneurship. It has been like at least 2 mths since we started with this course... 5 modules and shoo... i am in the final module. It has been a great experience doing all the modules, that's because they are different from the normal classes. And, the people that i have for the class is rather amazing... all got different yet great ideas. Cool people...
Just realised Grace donated USD 500 to the people of Vietnam... coz her purse was pickpocketed at HAnoi. And, it was stolen on the night that i came back to Singapore, to think that i "only " donated USD 100, comparing that to Grace, it was really nothing. I liked her Sony Ericsson handphone, but it is now gone. Haiz...

I am BACK !!!

Hmmm... it has been a tiring trip. Real tiring... walking and walking and walking for a few days... Fan Si Pan is really all about endurance. There is no tough obstacles but the distance that was covered was amazing... The terrain was basically muddy path and be warn... it is really muddy... and your shoe will get struck in them if you are not careful !!
And to my horror, nobody knows that June is not the best month to climb Fan Si Pan. It was only when Jacob sounded off at the camp site that he had read from Lonely Planet that June is a rainy season for Vietnam then did we realised the reason behind this great amount of rain water for the past few days. And, the camp site that i mentioned has a hut nearby where visitors can stay there for the night. But for our tour package, it was not included so we had to settle for tents. And indeed, it rained in the early morning... water seeped in... sleeping bags got wet... lightning outside... and cold wind blew in... YES... it was COLD... brrrrr....
And because of this rain, the view at the summit was bad. Visibility was very very very very very low... we could see nothing... and i was hoping to see China from there... but darm it... haiz... will i go again ? hmmm... will have to consider again... But Hanoi is sure a nice place to be at. The things there are cheaper then Singapore (Of course...). Can bargain at the shops and they have shops which sell similar stuffs in one street and other stuffs in another. Interesting...
And not to mention that i have "donated" USD100 to the people there... Someone, i don't know who had stole my money... USD100 = SGD 200 = 2,000,000.00 Dong. I was totally sad when i realised that... and the funny thing is that... my bag which contained the money was with me all the while... who could have taken it ? I don't know... i chose not to think that the money was taken by somebody that i know... so i guess it should be the locals... I am not rich... So, that amount of money matters to me... Darm... So no choice lah... cut down on shopping loh... So if you didn't get a key chain from me... you know why lah... haha...
Will post more photos and the specify details again another time... when the rest got back 1 week later... oh and did i mention that i came back to Spore alone. Because Jacob chose to stayed back with the rest and left me to come back alone... Taking the plane alone can be scary and i felt that when i heard from him that he chose to stay... but i got over it soon... and it proved to be a challenge...

Woooo... Mahjong mahjong everyday !!!

Wooo... this week has been fruitful coz... i had many sessions of mahjong... haha... uncountable... but on the whole, only managed to win $2 only, lose here win there... so in the end... *cough**cough*, $2 is quite okay bah !!
ATC was last Sunday. Many things happened. But, the comm did their best, and that is the most important thing !!
I really hate it when people do things behind my back. Is like they say this and this, and i only got to know after i ask about it. I feel left out... just hate that feeling...
anyway, just half finished packing my stuffs... conquering Fan Sipan this week...

EN104 is over.... Yeah ...
The battle to become the best company is finally over!! EN104, it is all about outdoing your competitor and understanding what your customers want. And in NiSEi Pte Ltd, we have done it and we did it better. And the rest are, Luz Pte Ltd, Zenith, Ostinato, HighWay and eCube.

Clockwise from top left : Ostinato, Luz Pte Ltd, NiSEi, Zenith, HighWay, eCube.
The simulated marketplace had all of us running around, planning this and that. And some groups even discussed till late at night. For my team, we only spend Wednesday night trying to put everything together. It was a new experience working in an all guys team. Different feeling, different working styles. We adopted a more "relaxed" way of doing things. When a decision is required to be made, we talked about it and it was implemented rather fast. Coz, some time with gals around, they tend to worry about this and that. That is not a bad thing but it would just dragged the whole decision making process down. We started out with a backfired product, NiSys which wasn't popular with customers, but surprisingly, our other product, NiSys Mini sold very very very well. It wasn't our main target market, however, with this little motivation, we decided to shift our focus and concentrate on NiSys Mini ; which was a good thing as it still sells well in the 3rd quarter. However, as we don't have enough fund, we couldn't produce more and that is a great burden on our production cost... Then it was the VC Fair.
There was a total of 5 Venture Capitalists. 2 didn't even bothered to enter our room to listen to what we have to say. 2 were rather sarcasti in their comments, and 1, who happens to be my fren, gave us the chance. When i realised eCUbe got $4million, i was rather upset as they got the $$ very fast. Then, they were offered another $2million but it was capped to a maximum of $4million so they can't accept the offer. For us, NiSEi, it was a torture, i was like thinking, "could it that we are the only all-guys team that all this VC are not interested in ? " I suppose, the all gals team have an advantage in this case. Haiz...
We didn't give up. Or rather, we were not stressed by all this. But a lot of disappointment. We settled down and start to plan for the remaining quaters. Our advantage is that, we didn't got stressed out too much. And true enough, quarter 5 turned out very well for us. We were first in total performance. And with the R&D that we have bought and traded, we believed the last quarter will be good for us. We hope to achieve the 3rd place. 3rd place only.
We stayed thru the night to discuss and plan. At about 3am, we decided to call for a break. Then we decided to search another place as TR 124 has no air con and we were getting a bit sick of the still air in it. Hence, we moved around the sch, and we ended in Neo's room. Putting our stuffs there, we then headed for the coffee shop across the road and had our breakfast. Had a good guys-to-guys talk. Then it was time for us to return to NEC. In fact, for the whole of Thurs morning, NiSEi was the only team that was relaxing in its breakout room. It is not that we have given up, just that, we have completed our stuffs and were waiting for the results.
Then came 12noon. Results were out. And the over winner is... ... ...
NISEI !!!
Mixed feeling as we can't believe this.
Then we realised, the other groups were facing other problems which affected their total sales. We were lucky that the customers like our products. We didn't get the 3rd placing, but i am more than happy enough. Great job guys... Great time working you people - Anbhnur, Neo, Ivan and Eugene.
* Found this template on thurs morning, still not very happy with it, will upgrade again once i find a better one.
** Results not good, very sad. Will have to work harder next sem.

Brand New iBLOG

Woooo... New template for my blog !! Took some time, guess this looks better than the previous one... the previous one was... b~o~r~ing...
Do you have comments abt this design ? Leave a comment for me lah... @ my tagzboard !!
Have been slacking for the past few days... i was like... "finally... finally some time for myself..." But of course, i was reading up my notes for the En1o3 exam this friday. Heard that is open book, but like not very confirm... And, talking about exams... the results for Sem 2 exam is suppose to be out in the 1st week of june. Haiz... not very confident this time round... i just wish for a pass will do lah... for all subjects... A bit pathetic hor, while there are some people who wish that they will get all 'A's and here i am, hoping that i will just pass... haiz... haiz...
And, i have been going round for "auditions" for the past few days. To be exact, 2 "auditions". Actually, they are just interviews, but i guess in the entertainment industry, auditions = interviews. I need $$, i want to get a Laptop. I want to go oversea. Hopefully i will get more assignments... (praying hard...)

And, mahjong craze is back for me !! Have been playing a few time this week. But still, not shiok enough !! And, Sakae Sushi craze is driving me crazy... sushi sushi sushi... especially with the buffet in the afternoon where students enjoy cheaper rates... Hee hee hee...

La la la la ...

“And the 1st runner up is … Hougang!! Congratulation to Bukit Batok to clinch the title, Mister Singapore 2006!! ”
With that, the pageant, Mister Singapore 2006, ended.
Well, hmm… it has been great. Being able to see how the showbiz function. I know this is like just a bit of what the real showbiz is like… but I guess it is good enough. Finally, it is over and life should get back to normal. Well, I am still an engineering student. Life has indeed been spiced up because of this event. And, there were some freebies as well, like the CleverWhite tooth whitening kit, the NUM attires (which seems to be wore before by somebody else… hmmmm…), one set of crocodile outfit (which resembles the SBStransit bus driver outfit… wooo…)
About the flow of the show, feedbacks from my friends were not very good. And I agreed with them as well. There were many “funny incidents” happening here and there, like when Alan was talking, the music suddenly “appeared” of nowhere. And, the wrong music was played for Raphael to come on to stage. The mike always seems to have some problem. And to be frank, Celine wasn’t really a good host, Alan pulled her closer to him as her position was off the camera. Denis was like saying, “ I don’t see how this pageant is a big event…” Guess, the stage engineers got to buck up or something.
Then at the back stage, a few particular contestants who was not in the top 10 like me were making some noise. I am quite okay for not being in the top 10. It actually relieves me and I felt happier as the competition has ended early for me. I enjoyed the rest of the show, of course minus-ing the technical screw up. Alright, Mr EC was like saying, “ I can’t believe this… I am a Manhunt 4th runner up and yet I didn’t get into the top 10 for this… what the hell… “and I clearly remembered the other time, during the “Ideal one contest” where I first met him, when he didn’t get a single stalk of rose, he was saying “ this contest is screwed up lah… “well… I must admit he got a never-say-die spirit, but I think he doesn’t have the sportsmanship leh. Then, another contestant, WC was like saying “#$%#@#... let’s change and leave… “
Hmmm... well... that is EC and WC ladies and gentlemen...

Happy =)
Life is good... especially when u got enough sleep... haha... finally, after the presentation show on Wednesday, i managed to grab a whole day of sleep. After which, went to Tan Tock Seng Hospital to see Ian (Punggol) who was involved in a serious accident. He looks pretty alright now, still unconscious but his condition is improving. Met his mom, she looks okay, probably relieved at the fact that Ian's is getting better. Haiz... must be really sad for her... heard that Ian was badly hit at his abdomen area... his liver and stomach and intestine was partially cut and remove, he broke his right arm. Although i don't know him very well, but i must say i really feel sad for him. It just makes me value life even more, one will never know what will happen the next minute...
Then, the presentation show was okay. Crocodile, evening wear and swim wear. I had felt a bit off coz i realised i didn't have a lot of people cheering for me. But in fact, that is not a bad thing, if there were like 20 people waiting to see me, in a way or another, i will get very stressed out. SO, in the end, i might not do well. Haiz.. was thinking of asking those who bought the tics for this saturday not to come. Coz, if i am not in the top 10, they won't see much of me. So...
By typing "mister singapore" in blogger search, i found many blogs with people writing crude remarks abt mr spore's contestants... some are funny but most are rather "fierce" remark.
